In November the first production small-size missile ship Taifun of the project 22800 will be launched which is now under construction at the shipbuilding enterprise of Pella in St. Petersburg. The head ship of this project Uragan is already on the water at the plant mooring where fitting-out works are performed.
The project 22800 (code Karakurt) is developed by the Central sea design office Almaz for Russian Navy. Military and scientific maintenance of the project was carried out by Military educational scientific center of the Russian Navy, reports Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
Rig of the ships of the project 22800 include complexes of attack and antiaircraft weapon, the system of fighting management, detection, targeting and communication. Basis of attack weapon is a complex of high-accuracy missile weapons.
For the first time the perspective shape of the ship was presented to the public at the International military and technical forum "Army-2015".
