in the Weisser Saal at Hotel Atlantik, An der Alster, Hamburg
at 11:00 on Monday 3 September 2012
The speakers there will be:
· Bernd Aufderheide, President and CEO Hamburg Messe und Congress
· Hans-Joachim Otto, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, and the Federal Government’s Maritime Coordinator
· Spyros M Polemis, Chairman of gmec, global maritime environmental congress, Immediate Past-Chairman of ICS (International Chamber of Shipping)
· Dirk Lehmann, Vice Chairman SEA EUROPE, Ships & Maritime Equipment Association (Merger of EMEC and CESA), CEO Becker Marine Systems
That will be followed by a lunch buffet, and then from 13:00 we invite you to join us for the opening event of this year’s gmec.
The gmec round table discussion will be held in the adjacent Great Hall (Grosser Festsaal) of the Atlantik Hotel, with leading international experts. Following words of welcome by the Chairmen Spyros Polemis and Dott. Corrado Antonini, Honorary Chairman CESA, there will be brief statements on four highly topical subjects of the maritime industry:
Sverre Prytz, Managing Director, BW Ventures, on The Asian Perspective on Green Shipping
Soren Stig Nielsen, Head of Sustainability, Maersk Line, on Corporate Social Responsibility, Sustainability and the Image of Our Industry
Dr. Carsten Wiebers, Head of Ship Finance, KfW IPEX Bank, on Financing Opportunities for Green Shipping Issues
Peter Sonnabend, Global Head Ocean Secure Ocean Freight, DHL, on Greening Ocean Freight
The subsequent discussion will be chaired by Nik Gowing, Main Presenter, BBC
