Hatz Diesel, the leading manufacturer of industrial diesel engines in the power range from 1.5 to 56 kW, presents its products for maritime applications at SMM in Hamburg from 9 to September 12, 2014. For 20 years, the Hatz Marine Centre of Excellence in Hamburg, a branch of the German based engine manufacturer, has developed and produced power generators, pumps and drive units for work and fishing boats that are certified by the Germanischer Lloyd (GL).
As a highlight, the concept study of a maritime version of the newly developed 4H50TIC will be presented at the company's stand. The engine has been manufactured in series production since the beginning of 2014 and is designed primarily for use in construction machinery, as well as for stationary and mobile applications. For use as a marine propulsion engine, the engine was converted accordingly. Keel cooling was adopted for the required engine cooling and to reduce heat radiation an insulation was installed for the exhaust silencer. Besides this, the 4H50TIC marine includes the same characteristics as the base engine. The 55 kW water-cooled 2-liter 4-cylinder turbo engine is equipped with a BOSCH common rail system with 1800 bar rail pressure. The engine sets new standards in its class in terms of power to weight ratio, size and fuel efficiency. With only 173 kg the engine is about 90 kg lighter and correspondingly smaller than its nearest competitor, which leads to lower energy consumption in the production process. Besides a low power to weight ratio, the engine underlines its ecological characteristics by a low specific fuel consumption of just 205 g / kWh at the best point. In addition, the consumption is not more than 240 g / kWh in a very broad speed and load range which reflects a realistic driving cycle. Also in terms of exhaust emissions, the engine sets standards. In the off-highway sector the engine achieves easily the EU 97/68 Stage IIIB and the U.S. EPA Tier 4 exhaust emission levels, both of which are more stringent in regard to the limits as the emission regulations in maritime applications.

In addition to the 4H50TIC marine two other maritime Hatz products will be introduced. A 1B50 with a maximum power of 8.5 kW, including transmission, which in particular is aimed at commercial and non-commercial fishing, as well as a 2M41 engine, which is constructed and certified according to GL specifications.

The Hatz Diesel Stand can be found in Hall A3, Stand 201.
