The Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) will be in charge of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS), for the fourth time, following the principle of chairmanship rotation among the societies. The Association consolidating the leading international classification societies is the principal advisor on technical issues for IMO. The first Russian Project 636 Varshavyanka diesel-electric submarine will be handed over to the Vietnamese Navy in 2014. Vietnam will receive six Varshavyanka submarines in total. The transaction amount is USD 1.8 bln. Admiralty Shipyards are responsible for the execution of this order.

PO Sevmash JSC intends to hand over three new nuclear-powered submarines to the Russian Navy in 2011. These are Yuri Dolgoruky ballistic missile submarine (Project 955 Borey class, designed by FSUE CDB ME Rubin), Alexander Nevsky ballistic missile submarine (Project 955 Borey class); Severodvinsk submarine armed with torpedoes and cruise missiles (Project 885 Yasen, designed by SPMBM Malakhit JSC).

Modifications in the RF Inland Water Transport Code have been approved. These modifications open the Russian waterways for navigation of vessels under foreign flags. The law stipulates that navigation of sports vessels, pleasure boats and tourist vessels navigating Russian rivers will take place in accordance with the regulations established by the Government of the Russian Federation.

USC feels that Baltic Shipyard may become illiquid assets in 2–3 years. The Corporation initiated negotiations for the purchase of the shipyard from Pugachyov’s structures in summer 2010, and obtained permission to purchase the assets in May 2011. However, the transactors have not agreed upon the price.
