A new “Kiel ̶ Sassnitz ̶ Ust-Luga” ferry line has been opened at the Port of Ust-Luga. The first freight shipment was made by MS Kaunas. Vessels are supposed to operate on this ferry line every week. The Russian line agent is SCF DFDS Lines Ltd. UCS Line has operated between these ports earlier.

Sergey Isakov, General Director of Nikolaev Shipyard Liman, has gone on a three-day hunger strike. According to him, his protest is caused by illegal actions of the regional tax authorities, who have filed a suit demanding the arrest of the shipyard’s assets and block their accounts.

The Federal Anti-Monopoly Service has granted the motion of Far Eastern Center for Shipbuilding and Ship Repair JSC as regards to the acquisition of 88.32 percent of Baltiysky Zavod JSC’s shares and 75.82 percent of Severnaya Verf Shipyard JSC’s shares. Far Eastern Center for Shipbuilding and Ship Repair JSC is obliged to execute all short-term and long-term contracts in force as of the trade date.

The meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Sergey Ivanov has taken a decision to exclude Amendment to Article 7 from the List of amendments to the Merchant Marine Code approved by the Government. According to this Amendment, all types of vessels, except for fishing vessels, are excluded from the fishing fleet. The RF Federal Fishery Agency and Coordination Council of the Far East Fishery Associations have sent their objections against this amendment.

Okskaya Shipyard has laid down the first section of the ninth “Captain Shumilov” dry-cargo vessel under the RSD44 project. The customer of this series is Volga Shipping Company. The project has been developed by the Marine Design Bureau. The Russian River Register Class is O-PR 2,0 (Ice 20) A.

Krasnye Barrikady Plant has completed the first construction stage of the Super M2-100 series self-elevating floating drilling rig named “Caspian Driller”. The 9000 DWT drilling rig is 62.8 m long; its hull height is 7.62 m. It is designed to drill offshore wells appr. 10 km deep. The customers of this project are Yantai CIMC Raffles and Dragon Oil.

Under the decision of the Arbitration Court of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce and Industry, PO Sevmash JSC has paid $43 mln to Norwegian shipping company Odfjell for the breaches of the contract for the construction of chemical tankers in 2009. This contract, which could have been the biggest Russian-Norwegian business transaction, was signed by the parties in 2004 and was terminated due to the failure to meet the contract dates.

The semi-submersible drilling rig “Northern Lights” has left for the Port of Kholmsk. After the drilling rig completed its sea trials, Vyborg Shipyard JSC and SHI signed a commissioning certificate. The drilling rig is scheduled to be delivered to Zyryanskaya Bay, Sakhalin Island, by June 7-8.

The Federal Anti-Monopoly Service has commenced a suit against the Federal Marine and River Transport Agency based on the violations of Part 3, Article15 of the Law “On protection of Competition”. The Resolution of the Russian Government “Implementation of the provisions in Chapter XI-2 in the International Convention..."establishes that the issuance of port facility conformance certificates, international vessel protection certificates, as well as temporary international vessel protection certificates is carried out by the Federal Marine and River Transport Agency. However, at present these functions are exercised by FSI Maritime Security Service subordinate to this Agency.
