Federal State Unitary Enterprise Atomflot considers options of constructing four ice breakers for the LNG project by Novatek near the Kara Sea. The decision can be made next spring, reports the Kommersant newspaper with reference to sources.
Now, according to Kommersant, the issue of a design of vessels and of the place of their construction is resolved. They can be as two-fuel (LNG and diesel fuel), and atomic. If Atomflot makes the decision to build vessels on atomic draft, then the Baltic Shipyard can become the probable applicant to order, predict newspaper sources. However if the decision in favor of two-fuel ice breakers - Vyborg Shipyard is made. Both enterprises are included into the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC).
According to preliminary estimate of interlocutors of Kommersant, the cost of the atomic ice breaker to make about 20 billion rubles, two-fuel - 14 billion rubles.
"In case of an investment of private means the factor of the price will become key: the investor won't overpay for the ice breaker only because he is atomic. If money is in the budget, it will be possible to build ice breakers and on Baltzavod", - the source in branch quotes Kommersant.
Sources of financing aren't known yet. Minpromtorg claims that the official position of Atomflot on construction didn't arrive.
"There were neither compellations, nor offers to handle the matter, nor technical projects, - have reported to Kommersant in the ministry. - Everything will depend on concrete arrangements of Atomflot and potential investors under whose projects these ice breakers have to be constructed".
