The Russian Federal Agency for Marine and River Transport summarized the results of ship escorts through the Kerch Strait for the first five months of this year.
By the end of January – May 2018, the volume of traffic through the Kerch-Yenikal Channel amounted to 11702 transits, which is 19.2% more as compared with the same period of the last year. This was reported by the
press office of Federal Agency for Marine and River Transport.
"For the period of 5 months, 5946 ships passed through the channel from north to south – from Azov Sea to Black Sea. 5756 ships sailed in the opposite direction. The ships pass through the Kerch-Yenikal Channel under control of the vessel traffic management system (VTMS) of Rosmorport State Corporation, Kerch Department of Crimean Branch," the report states. In addition, 6906 went through the Taman Waterway.
