The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation completely replaced its team in the negotiations to purchase French helicopter ships of “Mistral” type. Currently the process of getting all contract documentation by new representatives is being finished. The Government of the Russian Federation will review the draft law on shipping support in Russia by the end of May, the Vice Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Sergey Ivanov, promised. As the Vice Prime Minister noticed, the project conception contains a number of measures directed to economic support of the branch, including subsidizing of an interest rate and a number of others. The draft law is also directed to the following: it will be profitable for the ship owners to order ships at native shipyards, not abroad.

From the 30th of April Vladimir Prudyus was elected as the Director General of Volgograd Shipyard. The decision was taken at the meeting of the Board of Directors. Vladimir Prudyus that got the Director position for one year does not hold shares of the enterprise. The last director of the plant Andrey Komaristov left of his own accord.

The President of Russia appointed Sergey Koshelev as the Chief of the Head Department of International Military Cooperation of the Ministry of Defense being responsible for the negotiations to buy helicopter ships of “Mistral” type. Earlier Mr. Koshelev held a post of the Vice Director of the Department for Security Affairs and Disarmament of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The first of eight tankers with capacity 5.5 thou. ton, “Mekhanik Antonov”, was transferred to “V.F. Tanker”, at Red Sormovo Shipyard. Tankers of “river-sea” class are designed to transport crude oil and oil-products. Deadweight – 5,530 ton, length - 141 m, hull height – 6.1 m, speed - minimum 10 knots. Class: КМ * Ice1 R2-RSN AUT3 VCS Oil tanker.

Khabarovsk Shipyard, state enterprise “Khabarovskvodtrans” and CJSC “Goznak-Leasing” concluded the contract on construction of two ship-amphibias. Amount of the contract is about 248 mln. RUR. The Shipyard will also build a high-speed powerboat of А45-2 project designed for 100 passengers. The project is designed to replace obsolete “Meteors”.

A new company-provided high-speed powerboat “Baklan” А 149-1 built at shipyard “Pella” was transferred to Special Designation Police Detachment (OMON) of Regional Main Department of Internal Affairs in St. Petersburg. The ship is designed for a crew of two persons and eight passengers. Deadweight – 6.24 ton, speed up to 37 knots; the ship is equipped with sea and river radio stations, and public address equipment. A gun is mounted on the head.

The first run of gas pipeline “Nord Stream” on the bottom of the Baltic Sea was finished to be laid. The last section of the pipe was laid by pipelaying vessel Castoro Sei on the 4th of May. All three sections of the first run will be connected in summer of 2011 in two points: at a depth of about 80 meters in the Gulf of Finland and at the coast of the Swedish island Gottland at a depth of about 110 meters.
It was planned to start the transportation of gas in the fourth quarter of 2011. Total length of the line will be 1224 kilometers.

The bulk-carrier of RSD44 project with deadweight of 5440 t of “Volga Max” class was launched on the 5th of May at Oka Shipyard. The ship was named “Kapitan Krasnov”. The Customer is JSC “Volga Shipping Company”. The ship designer is Marine Engineering Bureau. The Russian River Register class - + O-PR 2.0 (лед 20) А. Volume of the cargo hold - 7090 m3.

Tankers of “river-sea” class are designed for transport of crude oil and oil-products. Volume of the cargo tanks is 6,720 m3. Class: KM * Ice1 R2-RSN AUT3 VCS Oil tanker.
