Metrostroi company and Severnaya Verf Shipyard have signed a contract for building a slipway and a hanger as part of the first phase of the project "New Shipbuilding Complex" which allows the shipyard to build large-capacity ships and vessels. It was reported by the press-office of the company.
According to the contract conditions, Metrostroi will build a slipway platform with a two-aisle hanger (250 m х 140 m х 75 m). The hanger will be equipped with 350-tonne cranes and modern transmission equipment on the basis of self-propelled ship trains with such production sites as the slip, completion and assembly sites. It is known that works should be completed in the first quarter of the year 2019.

Hull plating and assembly-welding production is supposed to be updated at the second stage of the project.
Igor Ponomarev, the director general of Severnaya Verf Shipyard, says that sources of funding are USC and Federal Budget Program, he also emphasizes that new complex will allow the shipyard to build large-capacity ships and vessels as well as ships up to 25,000 tonnes using the large-block method. It will extend the list of vessels built by Severnaya Verf Shipyard to the new-generation frigates, assault landing ships, LNG carriers and even oil tankers.

Nikolai Aleksandrov, the general director of Metrostroi, says that workers have already come to work at the site where construction camp is being arranged and pile clusters are tested. At the same time, we are actively preparing for Complex construction: having discussions with suppliers of materials and equipment, developing logistics, etc.
