Korean fishermen were on board a wooden schooner knee deep in water. The Russian ship's sailor heard the cries for help and reported to the navigation bridge.

The ship's side was turned windward so that to protect the schooner against wind and waves. Then the ship drifted to the schooner. "Meanwhile, the deck crew prepared rescue equipment: a rescue net, a lifebuoy, a lifeline, and a pilot ladder. With the help of this equipment the crew managed to recover the fishermen on board: three of them were alive with frostbites caused by long-time stay in cold water, their companion died the day before. His body was also recovered on board Pyotr Ilyichev," the statement said. The rescued fishermen were later delivered to Vladivostok.
