The program of investment quotas will allow to update capacities of the fishing fleet in Russia up to 40%. The head of Federal Agency for Fishery Ilya Shestakov told about it to journalists on Friday.
"Of course it will allow us to update capacities if we talk about capacities of the fishing fleet, up to 40%. As a matter of fact it is a large program of modernization which in five years will be already fully complete", Shestakov told.
According to him, more than 10 large fish processing plants and over 100 new harvesting vessels will be constructed in the country.
The head of department has reported that applications for allocation of investment quotas will be accepted till December 7 this year. The result will be summed up in January. At the same time, according to him, now there are orders in the Russian shipyards for construction of 25 harvesting vessels of a different class, including large-capacity over 100 meters long.
A third of orders of civil shipbuilding in the country is connected to the fishery fleet, Shestakov noted. "I consider that it is a big task and great success both for shipbuilders, and for our fishing branch", - the head of department told.
Quotas for production of fish in the investment purposes are given to the Russian companies for updating the fishing fleet. As it was reported earlier, the measure is provided by the updated federal law "About Fishery and Preservation of Water Biological Resources" signed by the Russian President on July 3 in 2016. Quotas for the investment purposes are provided of 20% of the general admissible catches of water bioresources as state support of construction of new vessels of the fishery fleet (15%) on the Russian shipyards and coastal refinery capacities (5%).
