PJSC ZiO-Podolsk (a part of a machine-building division of Rosatom – Atomenergomash) delivered the main equipment of the most modern in the world ship reactor installation RITM-200 for the first production universal atomic LK-60Ya ice breaker of the project 22220 Siberia which was launched on September 22. The enterprise has made and has shipped on Baltic Shipyard – Shipbuilding the integrated case of the second steam-generating block "RITM-200". The mass of a product was 147,5 tons, height – 7,3 meters, diameter – 3,3 m.
The first integrated case steam-generating block "RITM-200" has been shipped in the middle of September.
"RITM-200" - the latest reactor installation for the icebreaker fleet. She is a part of the main propulsion plant of the ice breaker and everyone includes two reactors with a thermal power of 175 MW. The main advantage of the new power block in compactness and profitability. RITM-200 has unique energy efficient integrated configuration which provides placement of the capital equipment directly in the case of the steam-generating block. At the expense of it he is twice easier, one and a half times more compact and is 25 MW more powerful than reactor installations now in use for some vessels in icebreaker fleet. Including it provides the improved technical characteristics of new ice breakers on speeds, icebreaking capabilities and also double draft of vessels that will allow them to conduct work both in the sea water area, and at small depths of the Siberian rivers
Service life of reactors is 40 years, safety of their work are ensured by a protective cover from steel, water and concrete. As nuclear fuel the active zone of cassette type with low uranium enrichment-235 is used. Reset of nuclear fuel happens once in seven years. For an example, during this time the diesel ice breaker for work should spend 540 thousand tons of the Arctic diesel. And one combined heat and power plant of similar power would spend 1 million tons of coal to provide with energy the 30-thousand city.
Delivery of the integrated case of the steam-generating block to the customer is carried out on the special railway conveyor of the jointed type with a loading capacity of 240 tons as freight is oversized. The conveyor will be switched on in structure of the cargo train. By rail the reactor will reach to the New Port station of St. Petersburg, there he will be overloaded on the special barge and delivered by water to Baltic Shipyard.
